Marbella, elegance, sea and the charm of southern Spain

Many of you will have heard of Marbella and will surely associate its name with luxury, yachts, glamor and the beaches of the Costa del Sol. But Marbella is much more than that.

It is a city full of contrasts, to which I always like to return.

It has the sophistication of great international destinations and, at the same time, preserves the Andalusian soul in its oldest streets and most traditional corners.

Every time I visit this incredible place I am surprised by the beauty of the historic center. Its small white streets decorated with pots full of flowers create a warm and charming atmosphere that invites you to walk aimlessly.

Every corner looks like a postcard.

One of the places that I always enjoy on my trips is the beautiful  Orange Square or Plaza de los Naranjos, surrounded by historic buildings, restaurants and orange trees that perfume the atmosphere. Sitting there for a few minutes allows you to observe the true essence of Marbella: calm, elegant and deeply Mediterranean.

Nearby are small shops, galleries and cafes where time seems to pass more slowly.

But Marbella also constantly looks towards the sea, and that is felt on every walk.

Walking along the coast while the Mediterranean accompanies the landscape is one of the most beautiful experiences of my trips. The sound of the waves, the palm trees and the characteristic light of southern Spain turn any walk into a special moment.

Avenida del Mar particularly impresses me. This promenade open to the sea, decorated with sculptures inspired by works by Salvador Dalí, combines art and landscape in a unique way.

It is one of those places where you feel like stopping just to observe.

On this trip we also visited the elegant  Puerto Banús, probably one of the best-known places in Marbella. There the atmosphere changes completely.

Large yachts, luxury cars, international boutiques and harbor-front restaurants show another side of the city: modern, exclusive and cosmopolitan.

However, even in the midst of this luxury, the Mediterranean remains the true protagonist because Marbella has a permanent relationship with the sea.

One of the most beautiful moments was enjoying the sunset from the coast from a boat. The sky was beginning to turn golden and pink tones as the city lights slowly turned on.

There are sunsets that are observed, and others that are felt.

I also really liked the joy of the people, the terraces full of life and the mix of languages ​​and cultures that naturally coexist in the city.

Marbella has a special energy, it is sophisticated but close, elegant but relaxed.

And perhaps that combination is exactly what makes it so attractive.

As night falls, the illuminated alleys of the old town take on even more charm. Music, conversations and the warm air of the Mediterranean create an atmosphere that is difficult to forget.

As I walked through its streets I thought that some places manage to exceed expectations because they offer much more than we imagined.

That was Marbella for me, a city where the beauty of the sea, Andalusian history and modern elegance coexist in perfect harmony.

And I am sure that I will return once again, especially because there are great friends there who are always waiting for us.
