Kamay Botany Bay National Park – Cape Solander: whales, cliffs and open sea

Cape Solander, within the Kamay Botany Bay National Park, is one of those corners where nature is shown without filters: cliffs, infinite ocean and the constant sound of the wind.

Located south of the city of  Sydney, within the  Kamay Botany Bay National Park, Cape Solander is one of the best spots in the region for whale watching during the migratory season.

A natural balcony over the Pacific

Cape Solander is a natural viewpoint elevated above the ocean and from there, the cliffs drop steeply towards the open sea, creating a stunning view of the Pacific.

The landscape is constantly changing: light, wind and the movement of water make each visit different. It is a place where one stops without having to plan it, simply because of the force of the environment.

One of the best places to see whales

Between the migration months, Cape Solander becomes a privileged point to observe humpback whales that travel along the Australian coast.

The Humpback whale  can be seen in the distance emerging from the water, raising their tails or performing their characteristic jumps.

The emotion of that moment is difficult to describe: first the wait, then the unexpected appearance, and finally the shared silence of all those watching.
