Córdoba, a trip to the heart of Argentina
A few days ago we visited Córdoba once again, but every time we go to that province we discover new places that pleasantly surprise us.
Because Córdoba is not only its mountains but it is also the water of its reservoirs, the small towns hidden among the mountains, the roads that get lost between the hills, the rivers that appear unexpectedly and those places where nature seems to have decided to make everything a little more beautiful.
And among so many discoveries, there was one that we especially liked: El Durazno, in Villa Yacanto.
El Durazno: a small paradise among the mountains
El Durazno was one of those surprises that appear when you move away from the best-known circuits
The landscape is beautiful, the water, the stones, the vegetation and the mountains form a combination that is difficult to explain in words.
And there is something special about exploring these places on foot, without too much planning, simply letting yourself be carried away by the landscape.
We even found those small pedestrian bridges, very rustic, stretched over the water, which allow us to cross the river and continue discovering the place.
They are not great works of engineering and that is precisely why they have so much charm.
They are simple, natural, almost as if they have always been part of the landscape.
Crossing one of those bridges, looking at the water below and discovering the surrounding landscape is one of those small experiences that may not appear on any “must see” list, but that end up staying forever in your memory.
Hot springs under the Córdoba night
And if El Durazno had surprised us during the day, the experience of the hot springs was completely different, because we had the opportunity to enjoy them at night.
And there the landscape transforms.
Imagine being in the middle of the mountains, surrounded by nature, with the dark sky above us and the hot water of the hot springs.
There’s not much more to ask for.
It is one of those moments when you stop taking photos and simply stay there, breathing, looking, enjoying, and thinking that many times we look for extraordinary experiences far from home, when there are places like that, in our own country.

Another of the places that amazed us was the Los Molinos reservoir and it is in places like this where Córdoba once again demonstrates its ability to completely change the landscape in a few kilometers.
The reservoir extends between the mountain ranges, creating a huge mirror of water surrounded by mountains and there is something hypnotic about contemplating it.
You can stare at the water for a long time, because the landscape is constantly changing depending on the light, the sky, and the time of day.
And again that feeling that we had during this entire trip appears: how incredible Argentina is.
We have mountains, lakes, rivers, dams, reservoirs, forests, hot springs and small towns that we often know little about, even those of us who live in the country.
Córdoba is much more than Villa Carlos Paz
Perhaps for many years we associated the province of Córdoba mainly with Villa Carlos Paz, the best-known mountains and summer vacations.
But the province is much larger and, above all, it has an enormous diversity of landscapes.
There are places where hills predominate, others where water is the protagonist.
There are mountain rivers, waterfalls, reservoirs and small towns where it seems that time passes in a different way.
And there are those corners that still retain a certain rusticity, like El Durazno, where nature continues to be the protagonist.
That’s what we enjoyed the most, not feeling like we were visiting a tourist attraction, but discovering a place.
Traveling is also discovering what is close to us.
Perhaps one of the most beautiful things that traveling allows us to do is learn to look in a different way.
Sometimes we believe that to find something extraordinary we have to take a plane and travel thousands of kilometers and then we discover a place like El Durazno, or we stop in front of the Los Molinos reservoir, or we end a day in a hot spring, at night, surrounded by mountains.
And we understand that adventure can also be much closer.
Córdoba showed us that again, that Argentina has wonderful places, that there are landscapes that still surprise us and that there is always some way to go, some town to discover and some corner that we did not yet know.
And that wonderful feeling of being exactly where we wanted to be.
Because perhaps traveling is just that, finding moments that we didn’t know we were looking for.

A perfect combination for those who enjoy nature, mountain landscapes, water and those places where you can still slow down.
My advice: don’t go just with the idea of “getting to know” these places. Go with time. Walk. Cross your bridges. Look at the landscape. Stop in front of the reservoir. And, if you have the chance, experience the hot springs at night.
