Singapore, a country that exceeded my expectations

There are destinations that you dream of visiting for years and others that, once visited, end up being even better than you imagined, and that was exactly what happened to me with Singapore.

For a long time I had wanted to discover this small country in Southeast Asia of which I had seen photographs and documentaries so many times.

However, no image manages to convey what it really feels like to walk its streets.

I had the enormous happiness of sharing this experience with my daughter, and that made the trip an even more special memory.

Singapore surprises from the first moment as everything works with admirable precision. The cleanliness of its streets, security, respect for public spaces and the harmony between futuristic buildings and enormous green spaces make one have the feeling of visiting a city of the future.

Marina Bay: where the city shines

If there is a place that sums up the essence of Singapore, it is Marina Bay, since during the day it impresses with its modern architecture and the profile of its skyscrapers, but when night falls something truly magical happens.

The light show over the water transforms the bay into a stage where music, reflections and buildings create an atmosphere that is difficult to describe.

We stayed there for a long time, simply contemplating how the city seemed to take on a new life under the night sky and, meanwhile, we enjoyed, along with thousands of people, that wonderful light show that occurs on the water.

Gardens by the Bay: a garden out of the imagination

Very close by is one of the most extraordinary places I have ever visited: Gardens by the Bay.

The huge Supertrees look like trees from another planet. During the day they attract attention for their design and the vegetation that covers them, but it is at dusk when the real magic happens.

The light and music show turns the park into an exciting experience, where nature and technology coexist in perfect harmony.

It was one of those moments when I simply stopped taking photographs to dedicate myself to enjoying.

Jewel Changi: the airport worth a visit on its own

I never imagined writing that one of the most surprising places on a trip would be an airport.

However, Jewel Changi is much more than an air terminal.

Its impressive indoor waterfall, surrounded by a lush tropical garden, turns entering or leaving Singapore into an unforgettable experience.

It is one of those places where you constantly look up because there is always something to admire.

Satay Street: flavors under the stars

One of the experiences we enjoyed the most was walking along the famous Satay Street when night begins to fall.

The aroma of skewers cooking over embers fills the entire street and it is impossible to resist trying the local flavors.

Between street stalls, shared tables and visitors from all over the world, we discovered a much more authentic side of Singapore.

Each meal was also a way to get closer to their culture.

A country where many cultures coexist

One of the things that caught my attention the most was the natural coexistence between different cultures, religions and languages.

In the same day it is possible to walk through neighborhoods of Chinese, Indian or Malay influence and discover that this diversity is part of the country’s identity.

Singapore shows that modernity is not at odds with traditions and on the contrary, both coexist admirably.

A trip that I will always remember

I left Singapore with the feeling of having visited one of the most fascinating places in the world.

Not only for its iconic buildings, its futuristic gardens or its light shows, but for the complete experience it offers: an orderly, safe, modern city and, at the same time, full of life.

But, above all, I will keep this trip in a very special place because I had the joy of sharing it with my daughter.

Singapore was a pending dream. Today I can say that it not only met my expectations: it completely exceeded them.
