Rafting on the Petrohué River: an adventure to encourage more
In the month of January 2026 we lived an experience that we still remember with great joy and adrenaline because, for the first time, Pablo and I went rafting.
We were on vacation in Chile, sharing the trip with our son Tomás and his girlfriend Peamai, when we decided to join this adventure without thinking too much about it.
Sometimes the best decisions are the ones that aren’t overly planned, but rather the ones that just feel right in the moment.

An experience in the heart of Chilean nature
The tour began in Ensenada, Chile, a small starting point surrounded by exuberant nature, very close to the imposing environment of the south of the country.
From there we embark on one of the most popular excursions in the area: rafting on the Petrohué River, within the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park.
The landscape is already impressive even before you get on the boat: intense green forests, fresh air and the constant presence of volcanoes that dominate the horizon.
The descent of the river combines stretches of excitement and speed with moments of calm in which the landscape seems to stop time.

Between rapids and impressive landscapes
Rafting on the Petrohué River is known for its class III and IV rapids, which makes it a fun, challenging and safe experience at the same time, always accompanied by specialized guides.
Feeling the force of the water, paddling as a team and letting yourself be carried by the current was a mix of adrenaline and absolute enjoyment.
Between laughter, concentration and the occasional shout of excitement, we crossed each section of the river.
But what made everything even more special was the natural environment because in the distance you could see the Osorno, Calbuco and Puntiagudo volcanoes, which seemed to guard the landscape like silent guardians.

A shared family experience
Living this adventure with Tomás and Peamai gave even deeper value to the trip. Sharing something new, getting out of the routine and encouraging ourselves together to a different experience created a memory that goes far beyond the sport or the excursion.
It was a moment of connection, of shared laughter and of feeling that each one was experiencing something unique, but at the same time together.
Get excited without limits
If there is something that this day of rafting left us with, it is a simple but powerful lesson: you should not limit yourself.
Many times we postpone experiences out of fear, doubt or thinking that “it is not for us” and, however, that day on the Petrohué River we understood that embracing the new opens doors that one did not imagine.
Age or previous experience does not matter. The important thing is the attitude with which one decides to live things.

A memory that remains
Today, when remembering that day in the south of Chile, the images of water rushing with force, the infinite green landscapes and the emotion of having done something completely new return.
But above all, there is the feeling of having shared a special moment with the family and of having confirmed something important: life is enjoyed more when one is encouraged.
